Intermediate Jumping Clinic

Progress your jumping skills with the most experienced coach in the region!

Are you jumping already on the Green Jump Line next to the parking lot (Tombstone) at Kanuga and are venturing onto Tortuga but aren't quite comfortable getting smoothly to the landing? Maybe your straight air skills looking pretty good and wonder what's next to keep progressing for different size or shape jumps?

Maybe you are already hitting the jump lines but are having inconsistent outcomes. Sometimes it goes fine, but other times it feels weird and out of control.

This clinic is a great help you progress your jumping!  This clinic will help you dial in your intentioanl skill applicaton depending on the size and shape of the ramp when approaching at different speeds. During the clinic, we'll focus on some of the fundamental elements of making the bike move in the air and lead you through a series of drills to build confidence and control.

We’ll also provide plenty of individual feedback and video analysis to refine your form and timing!

    • This clinic is for all genders.

    • Riders should be comfortable riding blue rated jump trails prior to taking this clinic (at least rolling them and catching a little air)

    • This clinic is great for those looking for the next step after achieving some consistency on basic jumps.

    • Riders who feel “stuck” with jumping. You are getting inconsistent results and want to break through to a new level of control and confidence

  • The Lead instructor for this clinic will be our Head Coach - Josh Whitmore. With more than 25 years experience as a mountain bike coach and certified as a Level 3 GSMBC coach, Josh has extensive experience helping riders progress through their intermediate level jumping plateau.

    • We’ll start with an intro to listen to your previous experience and goals, then set expectations and a plan for the clinic

    • Then, we’ll move into a skills assessment and move through an review of the fundamental skills or “tools” we use when jumping.

    • We’ll spend time revising our technique on a practice jump, correcting any body position or timing issues.

    • We’ll then move to a variety of Green and Blue rated table-top jumps to learn how to apply our “tools” to different size/shape jumps at different speeds.

    • We’ll endeavor to offer lots of individual feedback and video analysis.

  • $140 per person

  • In additional to the cost of instruction, you'll need to purchase a day pass or membership to Ride Kanuga separately at their website www.ridekanuga.com or in person when you arrive at our Adventure Center.

  • Required for this lesson:

    • Day-pass or membership to Ride Kanuga. If you don't already have one, purchase separately at www.ridekanuga.com or in person at the Adventure Shop when you arrive.

    • A bicycle in good working order. You can bring your own bike (regular mountain bike or eBike)

    • Helmets are required, full-face or half shell are acceptable

    • Water and food to last the duration of your lesson

    • Closed toe shoes (no sandals, flip-flops, or crocs)

    • Optional (but highly recommended) equipment:
      Knee Pads
      Gloves
