Mountain Bike Private Lessons at Beech Mountain Bike Park

Book here for any private lessons at Beech Mountain Bike Park near Banner Elk, NC. It boasts one of the highest elevation chair lift access trail systems in the eastern half of the USA.

Beech Mountain Bike Park is open Mid-May to the end of September, Thursday through Sunday.

We’ll have regular availability for our Head Coach - Josh Whitmore to teach at Beech Mountain (with a travel fee added). We’ll also designate some weekends where Josh and other staff will be available all weekend with no additional travel fee. We’ll also offer availability to book with Boone local Kristian Jackson upon request.

Example Lessons:

  • Strategies for tackling advanced obstacles including rocks, roots, rollers, steps, drops, slow tight turns, on beginner to expert rated trails.

  • Lessons for any level jumps or drops, from just learning to get your wheels off the ground to learning more style in the air like whips or tables

  • Refinement of body position to stay centered and have better range of motion and traction

  • Being more aggressive and pro-active in difficult terrain

  • Pre-loading and un-weighting the bike for features

  • Better braking for increased control, stability, and traction

  • Better cornering through body position, braking, line choice, rotation, etc.

  • Coaching and feedback for individual obstacles and features

    • This lesson is for any level rider who is interested in progressing their riding ability at Beech Mountain Bike Park, from experienced beginners to pros.

    • Lessons can include any topic in any terrain, from technical features on natural trails to jumping or drops

    • Enjoy the chairlift! Cut out the climb to enjoy maximum fun on the downhill.

    • This lesson requires the instructor to be a certified “Level 2 Instructor” or higher through the GSMBC or PMBIA. This means they have gone through specific training and evaluation on teaching advanced level riders in advanced level terrain.

    • Level 3 and 4 instructors can also teach this lesson.

    • Certifications ensure instructors follow proven teaching techniques, excellent risk management, and ability to offer accurate feedback to help you progress in a safe, intentional, and controlled way.

    • You can choose between our Head Coach - Josh Whitmore or Boone local Kristian Jackson by request.

    • We’ll start by listening to your specific goals, do a skills assessment to understand your current ability, then design a custom lesson that will help you reach your goals.

    • Depending on your starting ability, we may spend some time in an open area refiing basics, but aim to get practicing on trails quickly.

  • Required equipment for this lesson:

    • A bicycle in good working order.

    • Full-Face Helmets are required under our insurance at Lift Service Bike Parks. (available for rent at Beech Mountain if needed)

    • Knee Pads

    • Water and food to last the duration of your lesson

    • Closed toe shoes (no sandals, flip-flops, or crocs)

    Optional (but highly recommended) equipment:

    • Elbow Pads

    • Gloves

    • Chest / Back Protector

Lesson Duration: You can choose 2hr, 3hr, or 4hr duration for this lesson.

Cancellation Policy: You can cancel at any time for any reason for a full refund (minus our credit card and processing fees - 5%) up until the day before your lesson. If you cancel ON the day of your lesson, we keep the deposit. You can also reschedule your lesson for no additional cost up until the day before your lesson.
